Hi-View Park Playground is Open

You are invited to enjoy the new playground at Hi-View Park in Northeast Minneapolis

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and Commissioners Liz Wielinski and Meg Forney invite you to enjoy the new playground at Hi-View Park in Northeast Minneapolis.  This playground reopened with new equipment on Wednesday, October 14th.  The wading pool is currently under construction and will open for the summer season in 2016.

The new playground equipment features belt swings, a group swing, a net dome climber, and a beam and pod steppers connecting to monkey bars for school age children.  For the younger, preschool, age group, there is a combination climber with slides, a spinner, seesaw, rocker, mini-hammock, swings, and a balance beam and steppers. The Park Board has replaced the existing sand surfacing with new engineered wood fiber chips and Poured in Place rubber pathways to provide accessible routes within the area.  The Park Board will also add a fence between the playground and the nearby streets.  The former pool turtle sprayer (which can no longer function in the pool) has been salvaged and will be placed in the playground.

Spring Grand Opening

Concepts for the wading pool, and upcoming playground improvements, were developed with public input provided through intercept surveys at community events and classes, community meetings and an on-line survey.  The Columbia Park Neighborhood Association helped publicize information about the playground and wading pool improvements and the opportunities for input.

A Grand Opening for both the wading pool and playground has been set for Monday, June 20th in 2016. An official invite and details will be sent out in the spring.
