Bring pumpkins to Organics Drop-off

Hello organics recyclers!

Now that Halloween has passed and pumpkins are starting to no longer looks their best, we wanted to remind you that pumpkins can be brought to the organics drop-offs to be picked up for composting.  They do not need to be in a compostable bag to be dropped off.

Make sure to remove candles or lights from inside the pumpkins before dropping them off.  Please also note that pumpkins decorated with paint, glue or glitter should NOT be composted and should be placed in your garbage cart.

Please also note that other Halloween decorations such as corn stalks, hay bales or other yard waste are NOT accepted at the organics drop-off.  Yard waste will be collected for the next two weeks from Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling customers’ garbage and recycling collection points.  Collection ends on your regularly scheduled garbage day during the week of November 16th, 2015.  If you are not a City of Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling customer contact our office for locations where you may bring yard waste for composting.  Remember – it is illegal to throw yard waste in the trash in Minnesota.

Thanks for participating in the organics drop-off program!
