Celebrating our Native students

MINNEAPOLIS – Minneapolis Public Schools’ (MPS’) Indian Education department is proud to host the sixth annual Native American Achievement Celebration. The celebration honors extraordinary Native students who are making a difference in their schools and community.  Nominated by staff to receive recognition, students are celebrated for their involvement in extracurricular and cultural activities as well as their commitment to academics and attendance. This year, nearly 250 students from 30 schools will be honored at the event. Students and their families are invited to join in a shared meal, followed by a certificate ceremony and honor song. What:           Native American Achievement CelebrationWhen:          Wednesday, Feb. 17        5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.Where:        South High School                        3131 19th Ave. S.                        Minneapolis, MN 55407 For more information on MPS’ efforts to ensure all American Indian students are empowered as lifelong learners to become fully engaged leaders, stewards and citizens, visit indianed.mpls.k12.mn.us. ###
