Roberts Bird Sanctuary Improvements update

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board held its first public meeting for the Roberts Bird Sanctuary improvements project on Feb.18, 2016. Please see the project page and click on the “Get Involved” tab for a meeting summary and additional materials.
The Draft Habitat Assessment Report is included in the meeting materials. This report assesses avian habitat in the sanctuary, includes a comprehensive list of bird species found in or over the sanctuary, references endangered or threatened species, and addresses how the sanctuary can better support these species.  The report also provides a set of draft implementation tasks and outlines an ongoing habitat preservation strategy. Browse the meeting materials and fill out theonline survey before March 4, 2016.
The Design Team will explore implementation options based on the Draft Habitat Assessment Report and public comment. Check the project page for another update in early March and visit the Roberts Bird Sanctuary Improvements project page for more information.
The next public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 30, 6:30-8 pm, location TBD.

About this project:

The Roberts Bird Sanctuary Improvements project will explore how the sanctuary can best support avian habitat while providing education opportunities and low-impact access for park visitors. The project will create a preferred concept of improvements at the Roberts Bird Sanctuary for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board of Commissioners to consider later in 2016.
